with the winner holding the perpetual trophy for one year.
- The Peter Reekie Trophy is awarded to the Winner of the first All Age Stake run by the Retrieving Club each season. In 2010 it was donated to honour founding member, Peter Reekie.
Previous Winners
- The Paul Jansen Novice Stake - Donated by Mrs J Jansen in 1998. Paul Jansen died in 1997 after a courageous fight against cancer. Paul was a top rate member of the club. He held positions on the committee over the years, not least as President. He was also Patron for some years. His great contribution was to beginners of the sport. For many years he acted as club trainer, both officially and unofficially, always being ready to offer help and advice. He gave many Saturdays to beginners and was always available to give guidance to new members at trials. It is awarded to the winner of the first Novice Stake run by the Retrieving Club each season.
Previous Winners
- The Moralana Trophy – Donated in 2016 by Lynne Strang, former President of the Club and Life Member. The name Moralana was Lynne Strang’s kennel prefix. It came from the name of a station in South Australia that Lynne had visited. Lynne had contacted the owners and asked if she could use it as her Kennel prefix. Although Lynne only bred five litters of Labrador Retrievers starting with her foundation bitch RT Ch Finchaven Alana ASH CDX (Suzy), many had great success in the field. RT CH Moralana Pattons Pride CDX, RT CH Moralana Pattons Gem CDX and RT CH Moralana Pattons Monty were all from the same litter. RT CH Moralana Eisenhower CDX and RT CH Moralana Trailblazer ET. were a couple of others that earned the title of Retrieving Trial Champion. Lynne loved the painting; it reminded her of happy times in the beautiful outdoors with her dogs and her friends. The trophy is awarded to the dog or bitch that wins the 3rd Restricted Trial run by the Retrieving Club each season.

- Samgamgee Novice Shield was donated in 1979 by Kathy and Peter Flynn for the dog winning the last Novice Trial run by the Retrieving Club each season. It is awarded to the dog or bitch that wins the last Novice Stake run by the Retrieving Club each season. Samgamgee was prefix owned by Peter and Cathy Flynn who were Labrador Retriever trialers. They had one litter registered; 5 puppies born 29/12/1979. One was owned by Ray Penman – Samgamgee Pionere. He entered his first Novice Trial in April 1982 and won it. In the short space of 3 months, he won two Novice Stakes and took out two firsts and a second in Restricted. Unfortunately, this promising young dog came to a tragic end when he somehow got out and was killed on the road in 1982.
Previous Winners
- Westfalen Restricted Shield was donated by Anne and Manfred Meerkotter in 1979 for the dog winning the last Restricted Trial run by the Retrieving Club each season. It came about because of a bet that Bill Reekie made in 1978 with Manfred Meerkotter who ran (GSPs and Labs) and Andy Thwaites of Mossbank GSPs. Bill had bet that it would be 10 years before a GSP would win a National. Later that year Ch & RT Ch Linstan Kathi, a GPS bitch owned by W Morris from Victoria, won the National in SA. With the money that was won from the bet, two perpetual trophies began in 1979. The Westfalen Restricted Shield and the Mossbank Novice Shield was donated by Andy Thwaites. It is awarded to the winner of the first Novice Trial of the year conducted by the Labrador Retriever Club of WA. Manfred Meerkotter was a great contributor to the sport.
